I was born in June of 1940 in the small town of Shirley Arkansas where I started first grade. In 1947 the school house burned down, leaving the students a one room school house for a while.
My father was a Rail Road worker. His branch line went out of business in 1947, leaving us with very little in the way of income. We moved to North Arkansa and went to work in the cotton fields. This led to other moves to Indiana, Michigan, and about every other state that grew something to be harvested. I worked as a migrant worker until I was seventeen. I finally gave up the fight to get an education in 1958 and joined the Navy. I stayed in the Navy for 20 years. While in the Navy I met and wed my lovely wife Sarah, soon to follow were five daughters. I retired in june 1978. We bought a small plot of land in Arkansas, in Northern Van Buren county and settled down to finish raising our daughters. I worked as a mason, poultry processor, builder, and roofer until we got the girls grown. Then I got into the news paper trade. Delivering them. I did that for eleven years.
My writing started in my last couple of years in the Navy. I wrote some stories that amused my shipmates. One suggested I should try to get them published so I sent one to Suree. Ltd. They bought it. I then wrote severeal science fiction stories. I sent them around to publishers but no sale. Editors wanted to chop them all up, cutting out all the good parts. This I didn't like.
Until the internet came along I was at a standstill. The intenet gave me a new audience. I got one book published at www.1stbooks.com/bookview/2282, three at www.gaterbooks.com and one at www.zenmarc.com All of which are alive and well at this writing.
